Mesh Terminology ie 43T/S/HD/UV
S:
A thinner thread diameter, so more ink is applied to the substrate. Ideal for opaque printing to textiles. T: Standard mesh thread diameter used for most printing jobs. HD: Heavy duty mesh thread diameter used for where the mesh may be subject to excessive wear from sharp objects or abrasive ink. HT: High Tension This mesh can be streched ta an extra high tension (30 newtons or more) And once streched remains most stable on the screen. Used for where critical registration is needed. i.e. Circuit Boards ect.. U.V.: A mesh that has been developed for U.V. Printing where a very thin ink deposit is required. One side calendered. (Flattened) Giving less mesh thickness. Y: Coloured Mesh Orange-yellow, cuts down light distortion when using a direct stencil, (Emulsions) especially where fine detail & halftones are being printed Stops the light filtering down the mesh fibre, Increase exposure time 100% to compensate. Grit Gauze A very course mesh, used when a heavy ink deposit is required, or for printing Glitter inks, Towels ect.. |
How to choose the correct mesh grade
The mesh should be selected depending on the ink being used, The substrate being printed on, Absorbent Non-absorbent, The amount of detail required. A Guide to Mesh Grades & Uses
